Frequently Asked Questions About the Investment Only Solution - RCMA Account

What is managed money service and how does it work?

With a managed money service, you delegate responsibility for day-to-day investment and trading decisions to experienced professionals. By opting for a managed money service, you may be able to simplify some of your oversight responsibilities for the plan – leaving you more time to manage your business. Your Financial Advisor can help you determine which service is best for your plan’s objectives and asset level.

What are my plan responsibilities with an RCMA account?

Your plan responsibilities include:
  • Securing a recordkeeper or third-party administrator for your plan administration
  • Obtaining a Plan Document. You can adopt our RCMA Prototype plan document for profit sharing or money purchase plans, or use a different plan document of your choice
  • Designating a trustee. The plan can be self-trusteed, or you can appoint Merrill Lynch Trust Company, FSB

How does plan administration work with the RCMA account?

The RCMA account is an “investment-only” account in which you (or your designee) make all investment decisions for “pooled” accounts, and participants make investment decisions for participant-directed accounts. Regardless of the account structure you select, your recordkeeper or administrative provider performs all recordkeeping, administrative, tax reporting and trustee functions on behalf of the plan.
